the void has a substance that gives shape to your being
its emptiness fills you with the breaths of hollow gods
its indifference takes the form of a penetrating gaze
it guides, condemns and instructs with its inexistence
everything that is not there is there
everything that you seek is gone
everything that you love hurts
and everything that you held true
is somehow something else
something forbidden
something you can no longer grasp
or even touch
everything takes upon itself
a kind of sinister taboo
when the void has taken over you
the light is bent at a wicked angle
and even the trees seem somehow
malicious
you can see nothing anymore
except the lack of what you wish were there
you can hear and feel nothing
but a once meaningful memory
lost amid the indifferent inhuman stares
you can taste and experience nothing
but loss... complete and all-consuming
until you learn to see again
and you learn to see and touch and taste again
and the void becomes a companion
perhaps even a friend
the world is reborn
life begins anew
and this time
this time
the clarity is monstrous, yes
but also beautiful.
