all good things must die
all good things must be captured and framed
reproduced and critiqued and explained
passed on and idolized and worshipped
and shown over and over and over again
and picked at and cannibalized and cut down
until we are bored
and they are left by the wayside
spent, exhausted, and dead

all good things must perish
the good must become heroes
they must become symbols
of great banal ideals
they must be popularized
and claimed for the nation
they must not speak their mind anymore
they must lose their freedom
and say what we want them to say
speak what we want them to speak
be what we want them to be
so that they cannot stand out anymore
so that they cannot be better than you or me
anymore
and then they must die

that is the way for all good things

all good things must be slaughtered

the good are all dangerous
the good will change you
they will change our ways
the good are dangerous
the good are evil
the good must be slaughtered

the good must not get away with it

the good must be held accountable
they must be made to tremble
to suffer humiliation and disgrace
the good must face the wrath
of our vengeance

let's not lose any more sleep over the good
let's pick what we can from their pockets
and steal what we can from their hoard
and let's scurry back into our dark filthy corners
and hold the spoils in our greedy little fists
and slobber and drool over them

and remind them

this world belongs to vermin
